Kia Ora - The Welcome Cry of Mt. Cook
Kia Ora - The Welcome Cry of Mount Cook - Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, New Zealand, South Island - 2/10/2012.
My arrival spot, the grand location, the place where I knew my journey, which had for months seemed out of reach and only fantasy, was real! The whispering blades of grass in the peaceful breeze, the stunningly blue, pure, clean water, unreal, exciting, and grandiose, the scene was my perfect New Zealand landscape. Pleased the mountain came out to show its welcome (I later learned that Mt. Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand and Australia, can hide behind clouds for weeks at a time) my arrival luckily found this clear view of the snow capped precipice at sunset. "Kia Ora" is a Maori language greeting which means "be well, be healthy" This panoramic vista made my first full day in New Zealand all that I had been hoping for and more. Never have I felt more at home in a land so far away.
