Jurassic Mist. Fiordland National Park, New Zealand, South Island - 2/13/2012.
The native people of New Zealand, the Maori , call this island the land of the long white cloud, and this image shows why. As I was heading back from the coast of Milford Sound and climbing up the mountain pass of this valley, a huge band of clouds rolled in surrounding me completely. The feeling of being above the land is indescribable here and compares to the environment while one is in flight, climbing above the clouds on the way to cruising altitude. The setting of a seemingly Jurassic era jungle only adds to the mysterious feeling of being in another world.
